Mirror's Edge Release Date/Demo Announced

Looking forward to Mirror's Edge? Well, the wait won't be too long now as publisher EA and developer DICE have announced that game will ship for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2008. PC gamers will have to wait until "winter".

Additionally, a demo featuring a tutorial and a segment of the single-player campaign will be made available on both PSN and XBL "prior to launch" which will give players worldwide a sneak peek at what it's like to run on virtual rooftops with a semi-hot asian lead character.

Finally, if you pre-order the game on or after September 26 at "selected retailers" (probably means GameStop) you'll get an exclusive code that unlocks the Time Trial mode in the demo which allows you to virtually compete against the world to see who can complete the demo level the fastest. Ah...marketing...

Eurogamer is reporting that EA's forthcoming, action-adventure title Mirror's Edge will see exclusive DLC on Playstation 3. A Sony spokesperson stated that contrary to prior rumors there will not be an exclusive timed-release for Mirror's Edge on PS3. However, its was confirmed that "Playstation has an exclusive marketing agreement with EA regarding the title."

No details were given regarding the DLC or when it would be available. Mirror's Edge is expected to run-jump-and-soar into being later this year on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Check out the official site for more info and a few videos showing off this adrenal-fest in action.

Mirror's Edge Comic Announced

Greetings from Comic Con 2008 here in San Diego. I've just caught word that a limited-edition comic based on DICE and EA's upcoming "running simulator" Mirror's Edge has been announced as part of a collaboration with DC Comics and that lucky Comic Con attendees will be the first to get their hands (and feet) on freshly inked goods.

Here's how EA puts it:

“This partnership with DC Comics sets the stage as readers explore Faith’s world in Mirror’s Edge,” said Owen O’Brien, Senior Producer, DICE. “The unique graphic style offered by the comic book genre is perfect for taking fans through her back-story. Frame by frame, page by page, we’ll learn more about the events that shaped both her and the city.”

Based on the upcoming Mirror’s Edge video game, the comic combines the talents of writer and story designer Rhianna Pratchett with artist Matthew Dow Smith. Pratchett is also responsible for crafting the intricate script for the game. The six-part comic series will introduce readers to Faith and her fellow ‘Runners’ – a network of couriers who use acrobatic moves to avoid being detected as they traffic packages across a network of rooftops and aerial skyways.

Interesting...Now, let's just hope the game doesn't suck.
