Duke Nukem 3D Unloads on Xbox Live Arcade

Its no surprise that here around the Axe we like our carnage. Now while most of us prefer it served with a nice sharp, double-edged something-or-other, we can tolerate a bit more modern implements. For those of you not as melee-dependent as we, rejoice! Duke Nukem 3D, one of the handful of titles to put first-person-shooters on the map, is on its way to Xbox Live Arcade.

According to the official website, DN3D passed final certification Aug 15th (on its first try) and its release is now in the hands of Microsoft. A demo is available in the October 2008 issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, which should be hitting stores this week. Some type of "online previews" are promised to begin appearing on the 3D Realms site starting Aug 26th, so keep your sights trained there for more info.

Its encouraging to see so many firm dates coming out of 3D Realms these days. Now if only they'd drop the one that really matters: namely when the epitome-of-development-hell-sequels, Duke Nukem Forever, is finally going to be ready. Oh well, its only been a decade and change, why get impatient now?
