Exclusive Tomb Raider: Underworld DLC Coming to XBL

Perhaps you heard the EBA team discussing exclusive DLC on the most recent EpicBattleCry podcast. Well, fittingly enough, Eidos and Microsoft announced today that exclusive content for the upcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld will be coming to Xbox Live. The content, subtitled "Beneath the Ashes" and "Lara's Shadow", will extend play time by roughly six hours and consist of two entirely new chapters offering new playable characters, additional secrets to unlock, new environments to explore and different enemies to fight.

Beneath the Ashes will be available this Christmas while Lara's Shadow will follow in early 2009. Additionally, it was also announced that a demo for Tomb Raider: Underworld will be available on XBL sometime this month. Sa-WHEEET!

New Tomb Raider: Underworld Vid Doc Surfaces

It's been live on GameTrailers for a couple of days now, but if you haven't seen this cool new vid doc about the story and mythologies in the upcoming action/adventure Tomb Raider: Underworld, then take a few minutes and check it out.

The vid profiles Cinematics Director Toby Gard and Creative Director Eric Lindstrom as they discuss the ancient relics and tales that inspire the game's story arc. Additionally, you get to see images from the team's research trips to Cambodia and Mexico that heavily influenced the look and art direction of the title's mystic jungles and ruins.

Hopefully we'll be seeing more of these behind-the-scenes vignettes about the game sometime soon...Why? Because Lara is BAD ASS!.

Tomb Raider: Underworld Gameplay Trailer Released

Morning Axe-Heads, Eidos just dropped a new gameplay trailer for Tomb Raider: Underworld, showing off a few new locales, including a stunning set of ruins in Thailand, and giving some brief glimpses into Laura's ongoing quest for Avalon. This time around, Ms. Croft sets out to unravel the ancient Norse legends surrounding Thor, the god of thunder (and possibly rock-n-roll). Turns out Thor's hammer is real and has the power to level mountains and kill gods. I won't ruin it for you, but the trailer shows off some truly amazing environments, some animals-of-unusual-size which no doubt will fall to Ms. Croft's dual H&K blitzkrieg, and maybe even hint at a returning character or two.

Tomb Raider: Underworld, developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos, hits shelves on Nov 18th, 2008 as a simultaneous release for (get ready) the 360, DS, PC,
PS2, PS3, and Wii. Both the DS and Wii iterations will feature an exclusive archeologists toolkit "that allows players to excavate hidden areas and secrets with the aid of a compressed air gun, acetylene torch, chisel and pliers." Check out the official site for more news, screencaps, and videos.
