This is important. Far Cry 2 producer Louis-Pierre Pharand revealed a mashed-potato mountain of info on Ubisoft's imminent open-world FPS in a recent online interview at Eurogamer. Among other shards of knowledge, Pharand detailed some of Far Cry 2's multiplayer features:
"Moderating Hero: What sort of multiplayer modes will there be?
Louis-Pierre Pharand: Four modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond (like Capture the Flag), and Uprising, a modified version of a VIP."
Pharand states that all the single-player mode features will make their way into the multiplayer side including the day/night cycle and land and water vehicles. The multiplayer mode also gets an exclusive map editor for players to create their own FC2 content with the community able to play, rate, and rant over everything.Louis-Pierre Pharand: Four modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond (like Capture the Flag), and Uprising, a modified version of a VIP."
Other interesting tidbits include: a relevant, topical story true to the game's African locale, 40-80 hours of play time depending on side missions, and big replayability on "account that it's impossible to play the game the same way twice..." Be sure and check out the official site for pics, trailers and behind-the-scenes videos galore. Far Cry 2 makes North American landfall on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 21st and and Europe on the 24th.
