UGO caught up with Brett Ratner at one of those swank Hollywood events that people in Hollywood are always turning up at. When they put the question to him about upcoming projects Ratner was coy, indicating he had a few films waiting on script approval. When he finally started dropping names, Ratner either answered prayers or destroyed all hope for fanboys everywhere when he stated he's working on a film adaptation of Sony's first-party masterpiece God of War.
Original GoW Writer/Designer David Jaffe posted a response shortly after the news started clogging the tubes where he essentially tells fans its all gonna be okay. Ratner, he points out, is surrounded by people who know their business and the film is going to be in good hands. He also states that Thirteen Days/Road to Perdition scribe David Self is penning the screenplay. In his own words:
My dairokkan tells me this is not going to go over well.
