Alone in the Dark Fixed for PS3, Patched for 360

Odin's ravens have descended on Leipzig and bring back great tidings for all those poor souls lost in the Dark. Eden Studios announced today that the forthcoming PS3 version of Alone in the Dark would be heavily reworked, correcting the myriad problems plaguing the title. Eden is also working on a patch to bring these fixes to the 360 version.

Released earlier this year on nearly every platform, save the PS3, Alone in the Dark was an ambitious entry in the survival horror genre, that ultimately fell somewhat flat. Plagued by camera problems, fussy controls, and play mechanics that were often more at odds with the player than the denizens of the game itself, the title was praised for its innovation, but trounced for its poor execution.

But Eden's been listening and according to Eurogamer's hands-on with the PS3 version, all the issues and then some have been corrected. Everything from camera position and control, to driving mechanics, and the inventory system has been fixed. Its actually quite startling to read the list of changes and wonder how a game that's scored relatively well could have so much wrong with it.

Alone in the Dark makes its way into the light sometime in November for PS3. No details were available on which fixes would see their way into the 360 patch, or when the update would be available. We'll keep Huginn and Muninn on the hunt for more info.
